C. Michael Boatfield
Senior Pastor
Michael was called to preach at age 32 and has pastored for 22 years. He graduated from high school in May 1975 and attended New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has been in full-time ministry since 1994. Michael is active with the high school sports programs and enjoys being their team chaplain. Michael has a passion for working with student and children’s ministries. Michael is originally from Centre Alabama and started his ministry with the Georgia Baptist Children Home in Palmetto, Ga. Michael has been privileged to preach revivals in several places across our nations. He believes that revival in the church must come before we will see many people come to Christ.
Pastor Mike and his wife, Lacy, have been married since October 1974. Lacy is a pediatric RN with Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Their family—Son: Shannon, Daughter-in-law: Monique, Grandson: Christian, and Daughter: Lindy Boatfield.
Eddie Lowery
Minister of Music
Eddie has been on staff since February 2015. He received his Associate of Divinity Church Music from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1985 and was ordained that same year by Center Point Baptist Church of Dalton, Georgia. He has served many years in the ministry at various churches in the southeast including Bush, Louisiana; Austell, Georgia; East Ridge, Tennessee; and Rome, Georgia. Eddie is an active member in the Sons of Jubal, a male chorus comprised of ministers of music who serve in Georgia Baptist churches. His passion is music and worship, and serves to help people encounter Christ through music.
Eddie married his high school sweetheart, Jodi, an active member of the sanctuary choir. They have three daughters April, Carrie, and Miagan. Eddie and Jodi have been blessed with five wonderful grandchildren Kannon, Owen, Lucy, Amos, and Charlie.
Carlos De Freitas
Student Minister
Carlos joined Macland Baptist in July of 2018 as Pastor of Student Ministries. He has a bachelor’s degree in International Business from IESB in Brasilia, Brazil; a Master of Divinity from Mid America Baptist Theological Seminary; and he is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry in Leadership at Liberty University. Carlos has served in several churches throughout Arkansas.
Carlos is responsible for students from 6th grade to young adults and their families. For those new to faith or actively involved in the church, Carlos is available for faith talks, personal Bible study, small group studies, or Bible training for small group leaders. Carlos is also available for questions about parenting teens or connecting with other teenagers. Carlos’ battle cry to students is, “Don’t waste your life playing church—be the church.”
Cindy Holmes
Communications & Publications Director
Cindy grew up in Powder Springs, and joined Macland Baptist as a member in February 1974. After graduation, Cindy went right to work at Southern Bell which later became AT&T. She retired from AT&T after 36 years in IT. Cindy is married to Ronny Holmes in 1986 and have three children, Matt Holmes and Allison Chapman & Alivia Brown. She has served in several programs, including AWANA, Upwards, Children’s ministry, Youth ministries and many committees.
Cindy enjoys planning weddings for others and refinishing furniture. Her favorite verse is Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
