I have fallen short
When I was seven years old, I faithfully attended Olive Baptist Church in Lesage, WV, with my grandfather. On Wednesday nights, even though I was in the second grade, we were allowed to join the older kids (3-6 grade) in their overall lesson during the AWANA clubs. My grandfather was teaching about Jesus that night, and I felt Jesus calling me. That night, I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior in December of 1994. Shortly after [my grandfather’s ] passing, I fell out of church for a few years. Then, I attended church with my brother while going to high school. After graduating high school, I again fell out of church for two years. Then, I attended Spring Valley Freedom Baptist Church, where I served faithfully for four years. I have fallen short many times during these times, but my Heavenly Father has been there for me in the ups and the down. In January of 2011, my wife, my girlfriend at the time, found out we were pregnant with our first child. I knew that I wasn’t living for the Lord as I should have due to many unfortunate circumstances at my parents’ house, causing me to move out and live by myself and not live as I should. We decided to make it right by getting married, but we did love each other, so that wasn’t the only reason for us getting married. It took a few years after getting married, moving from West Virginia to Georgia, and getting situated for over a year to finally go to this great church that keeps sending us information about their church in the mail. This church was Macland Baptist Church. This is the church that I currently serve. Two kids later, becoming a deacon and now dedicating my life to the call of ministry, I am now making up for past mistakes by forgetting about my sinful past and living for my God. Glory to God in the highest! I pray today that if you haven’t accepted Him as Lord, today would be the day! I don’t have to worry about life events because I know God will always be in control, and I can lean on him (Matthew 11:28). If you need peace, the Lord is there! If you feel lonely, God is there (Deuteronomy 31:6-8)! God is there when you feel down or burdened by a situation (James 1:2-3)! Trust in Him today!
